Questions schools ask
How do we get this for our school?
The Supervised Brushing Hub is licensed to local authorities, not to individual schools, so a school cannot sign up for it directly. It is commissioned by your local authority as part of its oral health programme. The first step is to speak to your local authority about whether it is available in your area. If you would like to bring it in, ask your local authority to contact My Dental Buddy at hub@mydentalbuddy.com to licence the software on your behalf.
Is there anything our school has to pay for?
No. Where the programme runs, it is commissioned and funded by your local authority, not by your school. The My Dental Buddy app that families use at home is free for everyone, always.
What do our staff have to do?
Very little. All training is provided during onboarding by the supervised brushing team running your local authority’s programme. They handle the setup so your staff are supported from the start.
Is it GDPR-compliant?
Yes. UK-based servers, DPIA templates provided, ICO-registered (ZB894415), pseudonymised data, and full training on data handling.
What evidence do we get for Ofsted?
Exportable reports mapped to EYFS Framework 3.51, curriculum alignment docs, engagement metrics and parental involvement data. Everything inspectors want to see.
Is fluoride varnish or screening included?
These are separate clinical services your local authority can choose to commission, and both require explicit parental consent. To find out whether a fluoride varnish or screening service is available in your area, speak to your local authority.
